Frequently Asked Questions

What types of materials can the GP20 Plastic Shredder process?

The GP20 Plastic Shredder is designed to process a wide range of thermoplastic materials, including PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS and PEEK. Its versatility makes it suitable for various recycling and production projects with different types of plastics.

How does the smart feeding system work?

The shredder’s smart feeding system uses an input belt that automatically adjusts the processing speed of the shredder. This ensures a consistent flow of material, optimizing efficiency and preventing jams during the shredding process.
Users also have the option to switch off the smart feeding system to manually control the feeding, allowing for customized optimization based on their specific requirements.

What are the benefits of the swappable shredder blades with different numbers of teeth?

The GP20 features swappable shredder blades with different numbers of teeth, providing versatility for various shredding needs. This allows users to efficiently process different plastic types and sizes, ensuring optimal shredding performance and material preparation for further processing or recycling. The ability to change blades easily enhances the machine’s adaptability and efficiency in handling a wide range of materials.

How do I maintain and clean the GP20 Plastic Shredder?

Maintenance of the GP20 Plastic Shredder is simple and easier than that of the previous model Shr3DIt. Check and clean the filter screen and shredder blades regularly to ensure optimal performance.
It is important to clean the machine between shredding different plastics so that they do not mix! It is even easier to clean the machine with an air compressor, but this is not necessary.

Can the shredder and granulator units of the GP20 operate independently?

Yes, the machine is designed so that the shredder and granulator units can operate as standalone units. This flexibility allows users to use each unit separately based on their specific needs, providing greater versatility in their recycling and production processes.

GP20 for Industrial-Scale Shredding

What is a Plastic Shredder and what is it used for?

A Plastic Shredder is an industrial machine that uses sharp, rotating metal blades to break down plastic waste into smaller, manageable pieces. These shredded pieces can then be repurposed, often reprocessed into new materials like filament for 3D printing. Plastic shredders are essential tools in the recycling process, enabling industries to reduce waste by giving plastic a second life. For example, companies like Audi have utilized plastic shredders to recycle excess plastic packaging, transforming it into tools and parts for their manufacturing lines.

GP20 Shredder by 3devo

3devo entered the recycling scene in 2015 by developing a comprehensive plastic recycling setup, starting with their Filament Makers. This ecosystem expanded to include the AIRID polymer dryer and their first plastic shredder, the SHR3D IT (GP15), which launched in 2016. As demand for advanced recycling solutions grew, 3devo introduced the GP20 Plastic Shredder in 2021.

The GP20 represents a significant technological upgrade, featuring modularity and a built-in granulator component, setting it apart from earlier models. “GP” stands for Granulator Processor, and the GP20 is an essential part of 3devo’s full recycling lineup, offering powerful, precise shredding capabilities for various plastic materials. It’s a necessary machine for those looking to integrate plastic recycling into their manufacturing processes.

Why Choose the GP20 Plastic Shredder Over Other Industrial Shredders?

Our Shredder stands out from the competition due to its design features and seamless operation. Unlike other shredders currently on the market, the GP20 has one step to shredding and granulating your material, blending the process into one smooth continuous process. This means that you don't have to manually transfer the material from the shredder and granulator components, boosting the efficiency of your recycling efforts.

Another feature that makes our Shredder stand out is that it avoids using heat during the shredding and granulation processes. This is especially great if you want to use materials like PLA which are highly heat sensitive. The GP20 Plastic Shredder Guarantees that there is no change of the material melting in any component of the machine.

Whether you are in education, production, or recycling, our Plastic Shredder promotes efficiency and user-friendliness, thus making it the perfect recycling solution for filament production.
